Professional information

Sam graduated as a dentist from Glasgow Dental Hospital in 2015. He completed a year as a vocational trainee before going on to do 2 further years in hospital positions.

He spent 6 months providing treatment for anxious children and medically compromised patients in Arbroath. After this he spent a further 6 months in Dundee Dental Hospital supervising students, carrying out oral surgery, restorative and paediatric procedures as well as emergency dentistry. Further to this he undertook a year post in the Queen Elizabeth Maxillofacial department in Glasgow for 1 year. This involved carrying out oral surgery and taking referral from other dentists for difficult extractions. It also involved looking after patients with oral cancer and those with trauma to the head and neck from the A&E department.

Subsequently he moved to Edinburgh and for the past 5 years has enjoyed working in general practice. He is a comprehensive Invisalign provider which means he can straighten teeth with aligners. He is currently undertaking a diploma in dental implants. At Links Dental Practice he enjoys working with his patients to improve their dental health. He enjoys using the modern technology such as the intra-oral scanner and intra-oral cameras to communicate with patients. He enjoys keeping up to date with cutting edge technology by attending monthly CPD sessions covering all aspects of rapidly evolving dentistry.

Sam has a number of interests outside dentistry. He enjoys trying to keep fit by playing football weekly and going to the gym. He also enjoys watching rugby and football and supports Manchester United.

He enjoys dining out with his lovely partner Clare when he gets the chance. Together they enjoy travelling and exploring new countries and cultures.

“Hate to say it but Dr Sam is the best!!!! But I am biased I know. He has spent hours doing very awkward and tricky treatments in my mouth and I just sit there totally relaxed knowing he is working gently and efficiently on my mouth and transforming my smile, so I now dare smile!! I am full of confidence and almost look forward to going to the dentist!!!!! He and Claire work seamlessly together too. Thank you!”

All of the staff are always really friendly and professional. This morning I saw Moon, the Hygienist, very ably assisted by Bethany, the Dental technician. They worked together effortlessly, never bumping into each other and making the whole procedure pain free and comfortable. I never felt like I was drowning, my gums and tongue where never sucked into the aspirator, and my teeth feel great afterwards. I am really lucky to have such a talented team so close to my home.

Having just had a wisdom tooth removed I can honestly say the whole experience was most definitely a positive one. Mr. Ross took lots of time to explain the procedure knowing i was somewhat nervous. I've only had 2 courses of treatment so far from Jasmine but have found her to be friendly, efficient and informative. She conducts her business very professionally but with a very good 'bedside manner', thus making the patient feel relaxed and confident. A very positive experience so far with my new dentist - keep up the good work!I originally posted the above about a year ago but can now confirm (having had several courses of treatment) that Jasmine has lived up to my expectations and initial assessment. Ed is the best dentist that I’ve ever had and I’ve had many after being given Tetracycline as a child which took the enamel from my adult teeth. He is very sympathetic to those people who are scared of the needle and drill. He works fast and efficiently whilst still allowing the patient to rest. I really can’t fault anything. He explains every procedure and helps you to make an informed decision which is best for you. He truly is the best.

My new dentist Jasmine wss friendly and welcoming.She took great trouble to check all my teeth (gently) and showed me them on a screen(fascinating) whilst explaining the work which needed to be done.Because I could clearly see my teeth..this all made sense to me.While lying back in the dentist's chair i also enjoyed watching a gorgeous travel film of Italy (no sound) which was v relaxing.I would highly recommend.

I want to extend my sincerest thanks to Sam Lockhart (supremely decent, gifted dentist), Sammy (trainee assistant who is better than most trained assistants and with a truly caring approach to her profession) and the lovely receptionist from Asturias. You chaps saved my Christmas. We never met before and we may never meet again, but this was the most positively unforgettable visit to a dental surgery I have ever had in more than sixty years. I went to Links Dental Practice for help, as for many years I was scared of dentists and my teeth were in very bad condition. I had a very friendly chat with Louise and on the same day I met Sam Lockhart. He is an amazing dentist with a great approach to patients. He made me feel comfortable and we arranged the process of fixing my smile. During every visit I was completely informed of what the plan was and what was going on, all procedures were painless. I have been with this practice many years and have had excellent service. Being in Denplan I was given all the treatment I have needed. The only problem was in lock down due to the restrictions on dentists, but that is the fault of the Scottish Government and not the practice.

Without a doubt the best dental practice I've been to. Dr Sam Lockhart and Claire were genuinely excellent. They were aware of me being a nervous patient, they didn't rush and explained everything along the way for a tooth filling 🦷 The whole process was smooth and pain free, they first use a numbing gel, then the actual local anaesthetic so you don't get the pain of injecting the anesthetic in the first place. They were happy to play music in the room to distract me from the drilling which was really helpful. As a private practice, they can be expensive, but for someone like myself who is nervous who avoided dentists for sometime, it's worth paying to get the attention and care. Overall, I strongly recommend them.
